The Indians travel to Mesa to take on the Cubs this afternoon at 3:05 ET. The game will not be televised*, but audio can be found on WTAM in the Cleveland area, as well as through MLB.TV. MLB.com also has a live box score that can be used to follow the action in (close to) real time, for anyone without an MLB.TV account who'd still like to follow along.
*Saturday's game against the Padres will be broadcast on MLB.TV, giving us a chance to watch for the first time all week.
Carlos Carrasco will start for the Indians, followed by Corey Kluber. Each of them will probably be asked to pitch 3 innings, as starters slowly work their stamina up. Carrasco is the favorite to grab the fifth spot in the starting rotation, despite a very shaky 2013. He's got 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in 4 Cactus League innings this far. Kluber could be the team's #2 starter to begin the season; he's got 1 strikeout and no walks in 3 Cactus League innings.
Vinnie Pestano, Blake Wood, and Bryan Price are each schedule to throw 1 inning this afternoon.
Today's starting lineup:
1) Nyjer Morgan (CF)
2) Mike Aviles (SS)
3) Lonnie Chisenhall (3B)
4) Yan Gomes (C)
5) Jason Giambi (DH)
6) Ryan Raburn (RF)
7) Jeff Francoeur (LF)
8) Elliot Johnson (2B)
9) David Cooper (1B)
Starters have been playing 5 or 6 innings of late.
