From Joe Noga:

Indians relievers have had their struggles in August, but closer Emmanuel Clase has been a consistent force at the back end for more than a month.

Clase served up a walk-off home run to Oakland’s Jed Lowrie on July 16, and since then he’s been lights-out. The right-hander has not allowed a run in his last 18 1/3 innings, marking the second-longest active streak among major league relievers behind San Francisco’s José Álvarez (19 2/3).

In his last 18 games, Clase has given up just seven hits and one walk while striking out 20 and limiting opposing hitters to a .115 batting average. He has converted seven consecutive save chances, and should get plenty more opportunities with James Karinchak now pitching at Triple-A Columbus.
