Things were going very well for the home team early on Tuesday. Sean Manaea, Oakland’s ace, couldn’t put hitters away and lasted less than two innings. But Bob Melvin knows a fixable situation when he sees one, and replaced Manaea after three runs, knowing that all it takes to shut down the Guardian offense is to not beat yourself.
The law firm of Smith, Puk, Petit, Romo, Trivino, and Chafin allowed just one hit the rest of the way. Wade Miley was unimpressed.
Triston McKenzie, who pitched an awesome game again, was the unfortunate one in this situation, as his bullpen could not guard the lead he left with. Cleveland loses again.
Amed Rosario also stayed awesome.
