Yesterday’s baseball: Postponed, to be made up Sept. 20
Cleveland baseball news
From Mandy Bell:
Williams is a 6-foot-6 flamethrower who never found a regular rotation spot in his first three years at East Carolina. And in a shortened season in 2020, he pitched in just three innings due to a finger injury, but he came back to make a statement in 2021. This year, Williams claimed his spot as a starter and went 10-1 with a 1.88 ERA in 81 1/3 frames with 130 strikeouts. After his fastball, his slider is his next-best pitch, with a curveball and changeup that also show plenty of potential.
Rookie Eli Morgan is scheduled to start Friday at Oakland in the club’s first game after the break.
