So, uh, yesterday’s game was interesting because Terry Francona went with a lineup of nine guys who I think we’ll see the most of in April, but he led off this said lineup with Ben Gamel.
Gamel did draw a walk in the third, but when he swung, he was doing a lot of missing, and it didn’t look like he was particularly close to connecting. Certainly not what you want to see in the final game before Opening Day.
Something that was enjoyable though, was seeing José Ramírez absolutely smash a solo home run in the 1st. Jake Bauers hit one as well, his first of the spring.
The pitching was very good, except for Trevor Stephan’s extreme control issues, which earned him the L. Hopefully this was just a one-day hiccup because I have a feeling we’re going to get some good high leverage innings out of him.
Around baseball
- Nobody knows whether Francisco Lindor turned down the Mets’ $325M offer, but everybody seems to assume that he did.
- The Red Sox added a pair of relievers that hopefully lose a few games for them so we can laugh: Tyler Olson and Héctor Róndon.
