Wild Card Round - New York Yankees v Cleveland Indians - Game One Photo by Jason Miller/Getty Images

The Indians left Adam Plutko off their postseason roster, but do have Bradley Zimmer and Adam Cimber on it. That’s the transaction news of the day. In non-transaction news ...

Astros 4, Twins 1

The bad news: The Astros won.

The good news: Sergio Romo blew the game (with some help from bad defense) and Michael Brantley was the one to break it open.

Houston only needed 2 pitchers in this one. After a surprisingly quick hook for greinke, Framber Valdez was great. He walked the first 2 batters he faced, so I didn’t think I’d be writing that sentence, but baseball is weird like that.

The Twins’ playoff losing streak has reached 17 games.

White Sox 4, Athletics 1

Lucas Giolito’s 6 perfect innings to start off this game set the tone. Adam Engel and Jose Abreu provided the offense.

Rays 3, Blue Jays 1

Blake Snell gave up just one hit across 5.2 innings and struck out 9. The runs came via small ball and a Manny Margot 2-run homer. Old friend AJ Cole had a great year for TOronto, but did not fare well in this contest.

Yankees 68, Indians -1

All you need to know is that Adam Cimber pitched.
