The Indians needed to make room on their roster following the acquisition of seven players earlier today (three of which went straight to the 40-man roster), and they went with the big right-handed power-ish bat Domingo Santana.
To allow room on the 40-man roster for Hedges, Quantrill and Naylor, OF Domingo Santana has been designated for assignment

Santana was signed by the Indians this offseason on a one-year, $1.5 million deal. He was coming off a 21-homer season with the Mariners and three years removed from hitting 30 in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, that power didn’t follow him to Cleveland, but his strikeout issues did. As a result, he likely finished his Indians career with a .157/.298/.286 slash and just two home runs in 84 PA.
