It’s another day of Indians baseball here in the world in which we all presumably reside. Some of you may be on other worlds; if so, please give us some details.
Random Fact: The Great Pyramid of Giza, or Khufu’s Pyramid, is old.
MORE CONTEXT: Since it was built in 2560 BC, the birth of Jesus was born closer to today than the completion of the pyramid. Put another way, Rome’s spat with Pyhrrus is equidistant in time to the pyramids and the present; Qin Shi Huang wouldn’t “unify” China for another 50 years or so.
It was also the largest structure in the world until the completion of the Lincoln Cathedral in 1311. 3,871 years is a tough record to beat. What was the tallest structure before Khufu’s Pyramid? Djoser’s Step Pyramid, probably, which was built some 200-300 years prior. It doesn’t sound very long in context, but 300 years ago we were still throwing spears into whales so we could burn their blubber. It was considered a major advancement about ten years later when we started shooting spears into whales, instead.
