Prepare for an emotional scene at Progressive Field this afternoon as Carlos Carrasco makes his first start in more than a year since his leukemia diagnosis. Yes, he pitched as a reliever toward the end of last season, but this is the final step of his comeback.
There are a lot of interesting comeback stories to keep an eye on this season. Daniel Bard of the Rockies won his first start after leaving the Majors for seven years on account of the yips. A bit of a different predicament but heartwarming nonetheless.
Let’s hope for a dominant start by Cookie, especially since the offense is leaving a little bit to be desired.
