N&N: Yasiel Puig heads to Atlanta

Morning N&N for July 15, 2020

Shane Bieber pitched well again in yesterday’s scrimmage. All the Cleveland pitchers did, in fact, except for Anthony Gose, whose wildness led to some baserunners, and whose baserunners led to a Domingo Santana grand slam. It sounded like Gose’s velocity was there, though, so that’s a decent sign.

But the biggest Indians news of the day was where one of their 2019 players will be spending his 2020 season. Yasiel Puig, who probably should have been re-signed a week or two ago, is headed to Atlanta instead.

11 umpires opted out of the 2020 season due to health/safety concerns

• Byron Buxton has a sprained foot

• I guess “Texas Rangers furlough 12 percent of employees” is a less damaging headline than the one earlier this summer of ~“Rangers force employees to work despite adverse virus conditions.”
