Will Jefry Rodriguez be a starter, reliever or both for Indians in 2020 | cleveland.com
From Joe Noga:
The Indians appear to like Rodriguez as a starter. He was selected by manager Terry Francona to work the club’s Cactus League opener against Cincinnati back in February, but the game was rained out. Rodriguez ended up appearing in four spring games before coronavirus shut down camp, including three starts.
But his pitch arsenal and his 2019 results indicate that he is likely better suited for some sort of combo role in the bullpen, ala Zach McAllister, a similarly-built righty who spent parts of eight seasons bouncing back and forth between the rotation and the pen while making spot starts for Francona when necessary.
