Where are the Indians’ reserves going to play if there is a season? | cleveland.com
From Paul Hoynes:
If spring training starts on June 10 as has been speculated, with the season following in early July, teams will have to open with expanded rosters. Some reports said teams could carry 40 to 50 players because of the short spring training and the need to protect pitchers.
Is a manager really going to have that many players at his disposal? Is every game, or at least the ones in the first two or three weeks, going to be like a spring training game? Will the regular position players punch in for two or three innings and then be replaced? Will the starting pitchers go through their usual spring training progressions – two innings, three innings, four innings etc.?
Maybe that goes on for part of July, but eventually the rosters will be reduced. Where do those players go?
