Indians roster moves, thoughts left over from spring training | cleveland.com
From Terry Pluto:
3. Here’s what we need to know: Whenever baseball resumes with some sort of training camp, rosters can be changed. As of now, they are “frozen.” But that will change once players take the field for a summer version of spring training.
4. Karinchak will be in the bullpen. The Indians were very excited by what they saw from the 24-year-old right-hander this spring. He had 9 Ks in 5 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and two runs. An issue with Karinchak is control. He walked five in those 5 2/3 innings.
5. Karinchak throws close to 100 mph miles. He has a devastating North-to-South curveball, effective vs. righties and lefties. Last season, Karinchak had a 2.67 ERA in the minors. Here’s the eye-popping stuff: 74 Ks in 30 1/3 innings.
Around the League
- Justin Verlander will donate each MLB paycheck received during coronavirus shutdown. Still don’t like him, but this is fantastic.
- Andrew McCutchen, recovering from an ACL tear, is ready to go whenever season begins
- Three minority owners sue in Diamondbacks power struggle
