The Indians agreed to pay Nick Wittgren 2 million dollars for the 2021 season yesterday. This avoids arbitration.
Wittgren was very good again last season, although Sandy Alomar seemed to think he had magic jam-exiting superpowers, which got the Indians burned a couple times. I would expect another good year from Wittgren in 2021, although relief pitchers are as hard to predict as any pro athletes.
Around baseball
• Sam Fuld is now the general manager of the Phillies. And we are old as heck. Fuld was Philadelphia’s “director of integrative baseball performance” last season.
• The Mets avoided going to arbitration with Noah syndergaard. It is costing them 4.85 Wittgrens.
• The Brewers claimed Tim Lopes off waivers. He was previously in Seattle.
