From Paul Hoynes:

After several days of media-fueled rumors that Chernoff was the leading candidate to be the New York Mets’ new president of baseball operations, it was confirmed Saturday that Chernoff will remain with the Indians. He just completed his 17th season in Cleveland and his fifth as general manager.

Chris Antonetti, president of baseball operations, Chernoff and the rest of the Indians front office has helped produce eight straight winning seasons under manager Terry Francona. They have been to the postseason four times in the last five years, including qualifying for the wild card round this year.

Chernoff started working for the Indians in 2003 as an intern in the baseball operations department. He was named assistant director of baseball operations in 2005, director of baseball operations in 2007 and assistant general manager in 2010.
