• The Red Sox fired Alex Cora, the logical followup to the Astros firing AJ Hinch.

• Josh Donaldson signed a four-year contract with the Twins. They’re going all in on 2020, but I don’t love the back end of this contract for the team.

• Nolan Arenado trade discussions have occurred, but have not progressed one bit. Just imagine how differently LGT’s “favorite” baseball “reporter” would have passed along this tidbit!

• It turns out that the stupid idea to eliminate dozens of minor league teams was Jeff Luhnow’s idea. Makes sense.

• The Phillies designated Odúbel Herrera for assignment. He is coming off an 85-game domestic violence suspension.
