Jose Ramirez expected to return for Tribe on Tuesday | Indians.com

From Mandy Bell:

On Sunday, Cleveland manager Terry Francona said that José Ramírez will likely be activated before Tuesday’s game against the White Sox.

“It’s not set in stone,” Francona said. “I think it’s realistic.”

Ramírez fractured the hamate bone in his right hand on Aug. 24 and underwent surgery two days later. His initial timetable for return was five-to-seven weeks, which would have put him back with the Tribe on Oct. 1, at the earliest. But now that he’s likely getting penciled in the lineup a week sooner, the Indians wanted to make sure he would not risk reinjuring the bone.

“That was one of the things we actually asked,” Francona said, when asked about the possibility of a setback. “The only issue the medical people had was that the wound had to be closed. Well, that’s been closed. No, he’s OK.”
