N&N: Bobby Bradley optioned to Triple-A

Morning N&N for July 17, 2019

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Cleveland Indians
Look, you just didn’t drop down enough bunts
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

If you didn’t already hear, Bobby Bradley was sent to the minor leagues yesterday. A roster spot was needed for Zach Plesac and the other 24 men survived, meaning Bobby had to go.

Plesac made good use of the spot, throwing three hitless innings before a two-plus hour rain delay. The Cleveland bullpen also fared well, firing six one-hit innings.

Because Plesac picked off another runner, only one batter over the minimum was faced by the law firm of Plesac, Clippard, Goody & Olson. I’ve heard snappier names.

The Tribe bats were also superior, shelling Ryan Carpenter again. Carpenter is not good — his 9.30 ERA tells you that — but, we’ve seen the Indians get shut down by these types in the past. He’s an exception.

Other things that happened

• Danny Salazar made another promising rehab appearance.

• Yandy is making hard contact with the best of them.

• The Twins lost to the Mets.

Bjorn Walker-Buehler killed a dude.

• Andrew Cashner was bleh in his Boston debut.
