Ethan Hankins, George Valera shine on winless day for Tribe affiliates

Lynchburg Hillcats 2, Carolina Mudcats 13

Tyler Freeman did his part, going 2-5 with two doubles, and both Steven Kwan and Connor Smith had two singles each, but Lynchburg turned 11 hits into just two runs. Freeman is now batting .371 since being promoted to High-A in mid-June.

On the flipside, Juan Hillman’s incredible rebound campaign came to a crashing halt as the youngster was tagged for a whopping 10 runs (all earned) in just 2.1 innings pitched. Lynchburg trailed 12-1 after the third inning and was never able to recover.

Mahoning Valley Scrappers 5, Williamsport Crosscutters 6

Box Score · Scrappers melt to 13-12

Ethan Hankins again pitched well but defense let him down as four Mahoning Valley errors led to three unearned runs.

Hankins pitched 4.2 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out six and walking one. He sports a nifty 1.25 ERA through five starts this season.

Three Scrappers had multi-hit games. Bryan Wilson went 2-3 with a double and a walk, Henderson De Oleo went 2-4 with a pair of runs batted in and Bryan Lavistada went 2-5.

George Valera also had a strong game, going 1-2 with two walks, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Johnathan Rodriguez walked twice and stole a base and both Brayan Rocchio and Michael Cooper had RBI doubles.

DSL Indians 3, DSL Red Dodgers 9

Box Score · Indians fall to 15-18

The DSL Indians outhit the DSL Dodgers, but the Indians couldn’t string their hits together, going 1-11 with runners in scoring position and committing three errors which led to four unearned runs.

Jorge Burgos and Dayan Frias both had three-hit games for the Indians, with Burgos smacking two doubles. Gabriel Rodriguez went 2-4 with his fourth triple and catcher Victor Planchart went 2-3 with a walk.
