Cleveland 0 - Baltimore 13
I’m going to declare a point of privilege to note that I have a family event near Baltimore this afternoon, and my brother-in-law got me and my wife tickets to the game. So, I was there. Some notes from Section 98 of Orioles Park at Camden Yards.
- Clevinger just flat out didn’t have anything. Neither did anyone who followed him.
- There were a lot of people sporting Indians gear at the game, around the Inner Harbor and at my hotel. A lot.
- Oscar Mercado is now wanted in Baltimore for home run thievery.
- The Indians failed to learn the first rule of holes.
- Jordan Luplow couldn’t win last night. There were several kids in Section 98 and the drama in our region of the ballpark quickly became which child would the right fielder throw the ball to after warming up between innings. For the first few innings, kids got the ball and everything was great until Jordan Luplow threw the ball to a group wearing Indians T-shirts who were decidedly not kids. Afterwards, Luplow faced merciless heckling from a couple of bros behind me who couldn’t even pronounce his name correctly.
- At one point the scoreboard showed an animated version of three card monte featuring crabs. It was highly entertaining and I’m sure that money changed hands over the results, just as money changes hands over the hot dog race in Cleveland.
- Baltimore also has a hot dog race, but it is animated and shown on the scoreboard. At an upcoming game, there will be a hot dog race T-shirt giveaway featuring red, yellow or green T-shirts allowing one to align with one’s favorite racer (ketchup, mustard or relish).
- Before the top of the ninth inning, an Orioles employee sprinted from the bullpen tot he Orioles dugout and the crowd cheered. He appeared to deliver something and then sprinted back to the bullpen for no easily discernible reason.
- If you insist on not forgetting lat night’s debacle as quickly as possible, here’s the LGT recap and here’s the box score.
