The Lake County offense reached base safely 17 times to back up a strong pitching performance by Shane McCarthy en route to a victory Monday.
Jesse Berardi led the way, going 3-5 with a double and a stolen base while Mitch Reeves and Daniel Schneemann both collected a pair of singles to lead the way for the Captains’ offense. Tyler Freeman went 1-4 with a double and a walk and Bo Naylor went 1-4 with a walk and two runs scored,
McCarthy allowed one run on three hits in 5.0 innings while striking out five and walking two. Zach Draper impressively struck out seven in three shutout innings of relief to help slam the door.
Columbus, Akron and Lynchburg all had scheduled off days Monday.
