Cleveland, we have to talk.
Someone walks among us. Someone willing to go to weird lengths to make a quick buck. Someone who stole a piece of Slider’s hair and is attempting to sell it on eBay.
I know times are tough and the Tribe couldn’t afford Bryce Harper, but this seems to be a unusual revenue stream to pursue... pic.twitter.com/gd3RLErQXy— ʙʀʏᴀɴ (@NachoHelmet) March 5, 2019
The eBay lists the, um, item as “authentic tail fur” from Slider, and claims the seller grabbed a piece of it when he was exiting the dugout. The item went up on eBay on March 2, a week after it was allegedly snatched from Slider.
It’s also quite demanding for someone who ripped a piece of hair from a sports mascot.
UP FOR AUCTION IS AN AUTHENTIC PIECE OF SLIDER’S TAIL FUR. THIS WAS FROM THE SPRING TRAINING GAME 2/24 THIS YEAR IN GOODYEAR, ARIZONA. WHEN HE WAS GETTING UP ON THE DUGOUT IT SNAGGED. PAY WITHIN 7 DAYS.
The seller previously only dabbled in selling basketball and baseball cards on eBay, before they got into the illicit business of dismantling mascots and selling them piecemeal.
Who would buy such a thing? I have some idea:
- Someone slowly making their own Slider fursuit.
- Someone very confused about how cloning works.
I can’t speak for the first two, but I’ve already placed my bid and anxiously await my creepiest piece of Indians memorabilia possible.
The Indians have taken notice of the heist, but have yet to offer any sort of confirmation that it is indeed authentic Slider fur, or just a strand of yellow rope.
Either way, thank you reading Let’s Go Tribe, where we bring you only the most important spring training news.
