The Cleveland Baseball Indians face off against the Minnesota Twins in the final match of a three-game series. Carlos Carrasco makes his first start on the mound for the Tribe today, while the Twins volunteer Michael Pineda as tribute.
I feel awful for Pineda. After an all-star season in his rookie year with Seattle, he missed all of 2012 and 2013 due to shoulder surgeries. He eventually cracked the starting rotation with the Yankees and provided a solid workload for four seasons before tearing his UCL and undergoing Tommy John surgery.
I hope that he can get his career back on track. I’d prefer for him to wait until after today to do so, though.
