Opening Day is supposed to be exciting as teams gear up for another run at a world championship. And that might still be the case for the Cleveland Indians. But there’s a pretty significant update on one of Cleveland’s star players, and it’s not good:
Francisco Lindor sustained an acute left ankle sprain while base-running during a minor league game yesterday vs AA Akron. He underwent an MRI last night and findings were consistent with a mild to moderate left ankle sprain. No timetable on his return at this time.

Francisco Lindor will not make the Opening Day roster for the Cleveland Indians. Lindor hasn’t seen any spring training action since he’s been out with a calf injury since February 6. He was progressing fairly well and there was hope that he would be with the Tribe soon after Opening Day if not on Opening Day. That’s obviously not the case anymore. Based on the report from Andre Knott, we have no idea when we may see Francisco Lindor.
More updates to follow as reports come in. But at any rate, this is bad news. Now we wait to see just how bad.
