Mike Freeman accepts Triple-A assignment from Indians | cleveland.com
From Paul Hoynes:
Mike Freeman, who did a good job last season as manager Terry Francona’s utility man, will get a chance to keep his job with the Indians.
Freeman on Sunday accepted his outright assignment to Class AAA Columbus and was invited to spring training in February in Goodyear, Ariz. Freeman, 32, was designated for assignment on Dec. 15 when the Indians traded Corey Kluber to Texas for outfielder Delino DeShields and right-hander Emmanuel Clase.
The left-handed hitting Freeman cleared waivers and the Indians outrighted him to Columbus. Freeman had until Sunday to accept the assignment because he’d been outrighted more than once.
Around the League
- Hyun-Jin Ryu agrees to 4 yr, $80 million deal with Blue Jays. Pitching seems very valuable again this offseason. So yeah about that Kluber return ...
- Giants moving fences in (that’s why Bumgarner left!!)
- Who in the world is Dusty Hughes? Well, he’s one of the Royals Top 100 players of the decade
- Gerrit Cole is becoming the biggest star in baseball
