Lindor, Perez earn Gold Glove award | Indians.com
Well-deserved. From Mandy Bell:
On Sunday night, Pérez and shortstop Francisco Lindor were announced as the Indians’ recipients of the 2019 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. It was the first time since 2001 (Omar Vizquel, Roberto Alomar) that a pair of Indians captured the honors, as Pérez took home his first and Lindor earned his second.
“It’s different when you play every day than being a backup,” Pérez said during the Gold Glove Awards show on ESPN2. “Certainly when I was a backup to Yan Gomes, I learned a lot. I made the pitchers trust me for so many years and now that in 2019 I had the opportunity to play every day, I just couldn’t be more happy.”
First year as the primary catcher. ✔️
