The Cleveland Indians announced today that Trevor Bauer is headed to the disabled list with a stress fracture in his right fibula.

It wouldn’t be an Indians run to the postseason without an injury to a starting pitcher, would it?
Bauer injured the leg when a line drive struck it on August 11th. As of last night Jordan Bastian reported that Bauer was still on target to start on Friday. At this point we still wondered if it might be an ankle contusion as the initial X-rays came back negative.
In his stead, Adam Plutko will start on Friday, and Tyler Olson rejoins the 25-man roster.
Francona: Indians have placed Bauer on 10 day DL with “small fracture of right fibula.” Was discovered after TB went back to CLE for MRI. Plutko will start Saturday. Olson promoted in Bauer’s place.

The initial reports that Bauer has no timetable for a return don’t sound great; we can only hope that this is because the team is waiting to hear back about how severe the injury is rather than already knowing and not disclosing.
