Shane Bieber’s 2018 is a pleasant surprise up to this point for Indians’ fans. Even I didn’t quite believe Brian Hemminger when, during an April Prospect chat, he claimed that the rookie deserved to start in Cleveland immediately.
I know now that I should trust the man.
Bieber is yet to earn a loss in his young major league career. Pitchers wins and losses don’t matter, which is a phrase that I never tire of typing. To that end, note that his xFIP sits comfortably around 3.50, his ERA at 2.97, and that’s with a BABIP of .378.
Can be continue his streak of effective starts today against the Athletics? I think so, but then again I also once thought that the Patriots should trade Tom Brady since it was clear that Matt Cassel was ready to take over.
