Indians call up Greg Allen to replace injured Lonnie Chisenhall

Another shot for a potential star in the making.

The Cleveland Indians have called up outfielder Greg Allen to replace Lonnie Chisenhall, man of the worst calves in human history.

Allen has played 34 games with the Tribe this season, slashing .204/.248/.301 as a center field platoon mate with whoever isn’t injured at the time. Since being sent back down to the Columbus Clippers on June 20, Allen has feasted on poor Triple-A defense with a .411/.459/.518 slash and massive .537 BABIP in 62 plate appearances.

The Indians are facing a left-handed pitcher in Danny Duffy tonight, so one would hope Terry Francona would be willing to turn to his switch-hitting young center fielder and have him face a struggling southpaw while Brandon Guyer mans right field. I also would not bet against Rajai Davis getting the start due to his great game last night and overall veteran grittiness.

Chisenhall was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a lingering calf injury that flared up prior to the series opener against the Kansas City Royals.
