Prior to their Wednesday game against the White Sox, the Cleveland Indians promoted George Kontos from AAA to take the spot of Evan Marshall, who injured his arm Monday night.
Marshall was struggling again in Monday’s game, so this DL stint is probably a longer period of MLB salary than he would have otherwise seen. Kontos last appeared in the majors earlier this season with the Pirates.
Kontos was not needed Tuesday, with a dominant Mike Clevinger handling most of the night’s pitching.
In the game, the Indians stole their 23rd consecutive base without being caught, which is pretty incredible.
