Happy Sunday, folks! Here’s to another week of Tribe baseball with zero injuries!
Giants 13, Indians 4
Cleveland.com Recap | Box Score
Well, it’s a good thing this one didn’t count I suppose. Josh Tomlin got absolutely rocked in his second spring appearance to the tune of 5 runs on 6 hits with a walk and 4 strikeouts in his 2.0 innings. Someone named Louis Head also gave up 5 runs in the ninth inning, but eh. Of the three Cleveland hits on the day, one was a home run off the batter’s eye in center field by Edwin Encarnacion.
Tribe news
Napoli to return as Indians DH today | MLB
The party is now officially back as Mike Napoli will suit up for the Cleveland Indians once again later today against the Milwaukee Brewers. As much as I love Nap for his role in the magical 2016 run, I don’t really see a spot for him come Opening Day, so here’s to hoping another team gives him a contract by the end of the spring.
Marshall defining determination at Tribe camp | MLB
After taking a line drive to the head back in August of 2015, no one would’ve blamed Evan Marshall for being done with baseball for good. Now, 2.5 years later, Marshall is back on the diamond trying to find his way onto a major league ball club. He was great for the Diamondbacks in 2014, so here’s to hoping he can make his comeback this season.
Around the league
- Chris Davis is out for the next few days with right elbow soreness (MRI showed no structural damage, thankfully).
- In a rare move this offseason, the Tampa Bay Rays have actually signed a player.
- Thor isn’t worried that he is bringing the thunder too early.
- I’m not sure if this means that the Yankees’ spring training is that interesting or if people in New York just don’t care about the NBA or the NHL.
- The Dodgers want to keep Clayton Kershaw for life. In other news, water is wet.
- Cole Hamels is not a fan of the six-man rotation. Here’s a photo of him when asked by reporters to comment:
