(westbrookditor’s note: Absolutely nobody has linked Trevor Bauer to the Pirates. But it is possible and it is one way to link yesterday’s news into one headline...)
... but, Trevor Bauer could be headed somewhere else, at least according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Specifically, he says “Teams talking to the Cleveland #Indians say the Indians are much more inclined to trade Trevor Bauer than Corey Kluber or Carlos Carrasco. Bauer has 2 years of club control left, but the only one of the starters with cost uncertainty. He has two arbitration years left before FA.”
All of this is correct. And it is an option I have previously said I would prefer to trading one of our other starting pitchers (except Plutko, obviously. WHO WANTS ADAM? ANYBODY?).
Hoynes Joe Noga has also weighed in, in one of his least bad articles in recent memory.
Around baseball
• The Tigers have signed Matt Moore, who the Indians have hit hard in recent years.
• Patrick Corbin is being courted by the Phillies. Just have him watch Carlos Santana play and he’ll run to the dotted line.
• The Texas Rangers signed Jesse Chavez.
• Sadly, King Lonnie Chisenhall is officially a Pirate.
Rob Manfred has gone completely off the rails. Tuesday was the day he became president.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred says slower pace of play of baseball is an advantage in gambling as “it gives an opportunity to be creative with respect to the types of wagers” that could be made in between plays.

Hoynes and Rovell in one post. I’m sorry, everybody!
