The Mahoning Valley Scrappers’ magical season is still rolling. The Tribe Low-A affiliate is the only team with regular season games remaining. They clinched a division title to qualify for the playoffs Monday with a double-header sweep of Batavia.
Yesterday, the Scrappers jumped out to an early lead and held on to win.
Simeon Lucas and Dillon Persinger led the way offensively with multi-hit games. Both of Persinger’s hits were home runs, his first and second of the season.
Starting pitcher Elijah Morgan was dominant, tossing four shutout innings while striking out four, walking one and allowing just one hit.
