Game Thread: Tribe goes for history

With a win, the Indians will have the longest winning streak in American League history

MLB: Baltimore Orioles at Cleveland Indians Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

It bears repeating that the 1916 New York Giants, who holds the record for longest winning streak at 26, didn’t win 26 games in a row; one of their games during that stretch was an unofficial tie, something that was fairly common in those days. So if the Indians manage to win today, not only will they claim the American League record, but will tie the MLB record for consecutive wins (Chicago Cubs, 1935).
