Morning news & notes for Friday, June 23, 2017.

MLB: Cleveland Indians at Baltimore Orioles Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Going 10-4 is about as well as you can do in a 14-game stretch; prinkling in a few losses is a great way to ensure all the wins actually count. No matter what arbitrary value you do or don’t assign to winning streaks, the Tribe is on a roll! More news on that and the rest of baseball below:

Indians 6, Orioles 3

Mike Clevinger threw approximately 473 pitches through the first two innings, yet somehow managed to gut out five total innings. He also stumbled into the W thanks to another solid offensive performance sparked by Austin Jackson, of all people.

GM Mike Chernoff says Indians ‘wide open’ to trade if it can improve team |

It’s really good to hear Chernoff isn’t open to trades that will make the team worse. I was pretty worried there for a minute.

"We feel good about our system, but it's not how we feel about it, it's how other teams feel about it," he said. "We feel we're in a strong position to both add some guys from Triple-A as depth if we needed to tap internal players. Or potentially if there was the right external fit."

Imagine Mark Shapiro saying anything even remotely like this about his farm system.

Guyer to continue rehab at AAA Columbus |

The big takeaway here is that Brandon Guyer is still getting hit by pitches and watches his bruises turn purple down in Columbus.

Indians’ hot-hitting Jose Ramirez doesn’t want to hear about days off |

I’m breaking my embargo on Hoynsie articles 1) because there’s some kind of fun quotes here from Francona and 2) because it’s an incredibly slow Tribe news day
