When June rolls around, depending on how your team is doing, the MLB First-Year Player Draft can be one of the more exciting moments of the season as teams reload their farm systems with the best high school and collegiate players available. For a lot of players, the trip to the big leagues never becomes a reality; for some, they will eventually become major league starters, All-stars, and eventual Hall of Fame members.
For the current season, the Cleveland Indians aren’t playing great, but they’re still in the thick of the division race and the playoff hunt, so most fans will continue to be focused on the current iteration of the major league team as opposed to shifting focus to the players of the next few years. With that being said, if you enjoy scouting players and following the draft, here's how you can do it come Monday.
Draft Day 1: Rounds 1, Competitive Balance A, 2, and Competitive Balance B (Monday, June 12th, 2017)
For the first day, coverage will begin on MLB.com as well as the MLB Network around 6:00 p.m. ET. The drafting will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Indians will have two picks on the day, with picks #64 and 71 overall. All picks will switch to MLB.com beginning with the second round.
Draft Day 2: Rounds 3-10 (Tuesday, June 13th, 2017)
After the first day, the draft will not be broadcast on television; however, you will still be able to follow along on MLB.com starting at 12:30 p.m. ET for pre-draft coverage with drafting beginning at 1:00 pm ET. The Tribe starts the day with the #102 pick overall, and then they will have the 27th pick in each subsequent round.
Draft Day 3: Rounds 11-40 (Wednesday, June 14th, 2017)
The remainder of the 2017 First-Year Draft will start at 12:00 p.m. ET on MLB.com. As with day two, the Indians will have the 27th pick in each round.
In addition to following the draft online, we will have live threads going here at Let's Go Tribe on each of the three draft days for fans to come in and discuss the various picks. Be sure to stop by and discuss each day!
