The Athletics got out to a 3-0 lead last night, but that was not a large enough margin for Sonny Gray, who then allowed 7 unanswered runs. Home runs by Jason Kipnis and Bradley Zimmer extended the Tribe Homer Streak to 15 games, their longest such streak since 2007. Trevor Bauer was dang good again, so this was plenty. For good measure, Trevor struck out 14 Athletics, many via his curve.

Bauer struck out the side in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings, on way to an AL season high.

Zimmer also doubled in the game, and it was the hardest ball an Indians batter has hit in three years.

• WFNY's TD Dery thinks Rajai Davis deserved more recognition from Tribe fans and I have to say, though I have not been at either game, I also noticed that the reception has seemed rather quiet.

Speaking of Trevor Bauer, Chris Gimenez has made the Twins pitchers he has caught this year very ineffective. Gimenez, you may remember, loved talking to the media so much last year that he revealed "secrets" about Trevor’s arsenal that Bauer wanted to keep to himself:

"There’s a lot of different factors that have gone into it," Bauer said. "I’ve done a lot of work on it under wraps, and I’d like to keep it that way."

[...] On the other side of Cleveland’s clubhouse, Chris Gimenez, who has become Bauer’s personal catcher this season, was willing to shed some light on the improved pitch. The way Gimenez explained things, the success behind the curve this year stems from the sequencing with his other pitches, combined with how Bauer has used the breaking ball within the strike zone.

We'll never know if opponents were reading, but Bauer had a 5.13 ERA in his 2016 starts after that loose lips incident.

Around baseball

• Hunter Strickland was suspended 6 games for throwing at Bryce Harper and Bryce was suspended 4 games for charging the mound. Terry Francona was no mound charger.

Many people are saying that Lucas Duda is better than Eric Hosmer. These people are known as "correct."

• The NL is outhitting the AL this season (by OPS). Obviously, this is because Michael Martinez has spent the entire season in the American League.

• Tom Glavine is doing a better job of trying to buy the Marlins than Derek Jeter covfefe
