That was an impressive performance, especially given the lineup he was facing. Mike Clevinger made his case to stay in the rotation once Corey Kluber returns, throwing 7 innings of shutout baseball, and taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning. The Astros have dropped three series all year, and two of the three were to the Indians.

As Pluto says, if you go make to the second half of last year, Salazar’s numbers aren’t pretty at all. The good news is that his velocity is still fine, but that’s what makes his struggles all the more perplexing.

With Carrasco on track to make his next start, that means the Indians will have to make an interesting decision when Corey Kluber is ready to go, perhaps as soon as the end of next week. Danny Salazar’s start today will probably go a long ways in determining which decision they make.
