Getting from California to Ohio overnight on a whim is a daunting trip, but it probably gets a whole lot easier to swallow when it’s to see your son or grandson make his Major Leage Baseball debut.
That’s the scenario that Bradley Zimmer’s mom, dad, and grandmother likely found themselves in last night when they got the call from the 24-year-old outfielder. Prior to tonight’s game, Zimmer said his mom and dad were the first people he called (sorry, g-ma!) in an interview with Andre Knott; Jordan Bastian also reported that he called his brother, fellow first-round pick Kyle Zimmer.
Luckily everyone made it to the game, which led to some heart-warming photos before the game.

Zimmer will wear number four for in his debut as the Tribe’s center fielder tonight.
