Yandy Diaz remains sidelined with sore groin

The 25-year-old has not played since he came up limp running the bases on March 4.

For most news outlets, including the Cleveland Indians’ own website, a non-roster invitee to spring training needing a couple days off due to a right groin strain is not worth much more than a note at the bottom of yet another post about Michael Brantley’s road back to the majors (or a tweet from one of the team’s most well-known writers). Totally understandable.

But for Let’s Go Tribe, your 24/7 source for all things Yandy Diaz, it’s getting its own post, damnit.

In a recent MLB.com update, not-Jordan Bastian had a bunch of words about Michael Brantley working his way back from August biceps surgery, the need for repetition in said way back, and the fact that Brantley is feeling “a little frisky,” according to Terry Francona.

But forget all that, this is why you’re here:

Non-roster outfielder Yandy Diaz suffered right groin soreness against the A's in Mesa on March 4 while running the bases and hasn't appeared in a game since. Francona said Diaz was scheduled to run the bases Friday and is "probably still a few days away."

Many LGT readers noted Diaz’s absence earlier this week — clearly the masses have spoken and forced the Indians’ hand in the matter. He is out with a minor injury and will be back soon.

We did it, everyone. We did it.
