Including pending free agents, players with club options, and players who are arbitration-eligible.

I wasn’t planning on talking about the off-season so soon (way too soon), but I do want to throw this chart out there for discussion purposes. I’m hoping this doesn’t break the site code, as it’s very wide. But here goes nothing. You’ll want to click on it to be able to read it.

2017 roster after ALDS

I’ve also made the file available to view as a spreadsheet here, so feel free to save it to your desktop and play around with it.

I’ve set the 2018 salaries of pending free agents to $0, so that means if the Indians let everyone who is a free agent walk, they’ll be paying about $135M for the 40-man roster. I also have a 25-man roster total, but that’s lower than it actually would be, as they’d have to replace the 4 free agents with somebody, even if it’s a pre-arbitration player. However, note that the 25-man roster salary totals still goes up, which gives you an idea about how many built-in raises are due for players that will still be here in 2018.

Here’s the players that the Indians will need to make decisions on over the next couple months:

Free Agents: Carlos Santana, Jay Bruce, Austin Jackson, Joe Smith, Bryan Shaw, Craig Breslow

2018 Club Options: Michael Brantley, Josh Tomlin, Boone Logan

Arbitration: Lonnie Chisenhall, Trevor Bauer, Cody Allen, Danny Salazar, Zach McAllister, Dan Otero, Abraham Almonte

That’s all for now.
