Tomorrow is the first day of February, which means that baseball will be back very soon! While the sting of Game 7 isn’t completely gone, it is slowly being replaced by the excitement of a new season that looms closer every day. I’m not sure if I’ll make it out to Arizona for Spring Training this year, but I’m hoping to get back to Progressive Field at some point this season.

Statcast shows Kipnis’ evolution at plate | MLB
Jason Kipnis saw an impressive uptick in power during the 2016 season, which started all the way back in spring training. The main difference was his enhanced ability to turn on inside pitches, which helped him to continue to drive the ball to the opposite field with consistency and authority. Here’s to a powerful 2017, Kip!
If you thought you had it bad after the World Series ended, you’ve probably imagined at some point about how the players felt. Well, imagine no more.
Around the League
- The St. Louis Cardinals were finally handed their “penalties” for hacking into the Houston Astros’ databases.
- David Ross, the almost 40 year old catcher who hit a home run in Game 7 of the World Series *grumble*, is set to be an MLB analyst for ESPN.
- Frank Thomas seems to be implying that Jeff Bagwell and Ivan Rodriguez had some PED help during their playing time.
- Colby Rasmus doesn’t think that baseball likes “long hair...redneck folks”
