C'mon Mike!

The Indians could use rookie Mike Clevinger to step up and provide starting pitching depth for them down the stretch and possibly into the playoffs and gets another chance to show off his stuff this evening against the Royals. Clevinger enters with a 2-2 record and 4.76 ERA, striking out 43 batters over 46 innings pitched. In his last start, he allowed one run on four hits, but a high pitch count ended his outing after just four innings.

The Royals will counter with veteran Jason Vargas. The left-hander is making his second start since returning from Tommy John surgery. He went three innings in his first start back and is expected to be able to reach 65-70 pitches tonight.
