The Cleveland Indians won the first game of the series and dropped the second. Math would say that winning game three would give them a 2-1 series win, and math is usually pretty good at being right. Unfortunately, no amount of math can ever really tell us which Trevor Bauer we are going to get in any start. Do we get the eight-inning, 13-strikeout Bauer from his last start, or the one that allows eight earned runs over 2.2 innings? Flip a coin and find out!
Kendall Graveman is coming off an impressive start himself, having shutout the Chicago White Sox with five strikeouts, no walks, and just five hits. That was Graveman's first shutout of the season, complete game or otherwise, in 24 starts this season. It was also only the second time this season he has gone the distance in any game, his last complete game coming against the Tampa Bay Rays on July 23.
