Going away for a week to visit family in Cleveland was great. I got to get away from work for a bit, spend time with my cousins, and go to some baseball games. I don't think I'll ever forget being at last Friday's game when Tyler Naquin made history with a walk-off, inside-the-park home run. It was one of those moments that really solidified the theory that the 2016 Cleveland Indians are something special. Here's to a fun rest of the season and a thrilling postseason. And now, onto the news!

For Tribe fans out east, it's understandable if you went to bed prior to the ending of this game. But if you did, you missed some awesomeness by Carlos Santana and Andrew Miller. Carlos Carrasco and Andrew Triggs went toe to toe for six innings, but a late inning blast by Lando Calrissian and the lethal slider of Miller Time helped give the Tribe a narrow victory. Since Detroit had the day off, the Indians' lead in the AL Central increased 7.5 games.
Indians news
I really want Gomes back. I still firmly believe that he is too good to have just fallen off a cliff like he has this season. Hopefully some rehab and a fully robotic arm can help him put the Tribe over the hump for postseason baseball.
You know, I think I'm okay with this Miller guy.
Around the League
- Because the Washington Nationals have such a commanding lead in the NL East, they don't need to worry about Steven Strasburg landing on the DL.
- Country Breakfast, aka Bill Butler, is sidelined with a concussion following his altercation with teammate Danny Valencia at the end of last week. Apparently, when Butler told Valencia that he could say anything he wants and Valencia wouldn't do anything about it, Valencia did something about it.
- The Dodgers had a mammoth day at the plate yesterday, notching seven home runs (3 off the bat of Adrian "Ernie from The George Lopez Show" Gonzalez) against the Cincinnati Reds.
- Josh Reddick joins a host of other Dodger players on the DL. His injury was sillier than most.
- And finally, both ESPN and Yahoo Sports have articles up praising David Price's performance in Monday night's game, yet there is no mention of Carlos Carrasco anywhere despite Carrasco having a better game (89 Game Score for Cookie vs. 88 Game Score for Price).
