The Indians welcome the Oakland A's, another team who may have a significantly different roster by the end of the weekend, though Oakland will likely to subtracting rather than adding major-league players. They begin the day 11.5 games behind first-place Texas and 9 games behind the second Wild Card - they've been effectively out of contention from just about the beginning of the season.
If you believe that rust is more harmful than overuse, the Indians rotation is in for a rough ride the next week or so. Trevor Bauer, tonight's starter, hasn't pitched in a week, and that appearance (against Baltimore) was a short outing.
