Happy Draft Day, everyone! In case you forgot, the current Cleveland Indians actually have a baseball game this evening out on the west coast against the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners currently lead the Tribe 2-1 in this four game series, so the Indians will try to nab a win tonight and get a split before heading down south to see me and and the Los Angeles Angels.
Tonight, the Indians send Josh Tomlin to the mound. Tomlin, as you all know, has been phenomenal for the Indians so far during the 2016 season, especially in games following a Cleveland loss. His last start came on June 4 against the Royals, where he went 6.1 innings and limited the Royals to just 1 run on 7 hits. On the season, Tomlin has a solid 3.54 ERA (but a 4.30 FIP) in 61.0 innings of work, which translates to a 127 ERA+.
To counter, the Mariners send RHP Nathan Karns to face the Tribe lineup. Karns has struggled this year for the Mariners, amassing a 4.23 ERA (and a 3.64 FIP) in 61.2 innings of work, good for an ERA+ of 93. In his last start on June 4 against the Texas Rangers, Karns got roughed up over 4.0 innings, allowing 7 runs on 8 hits and 5 walks.
For the offense, Mike Napoli finds himself back in the lineup as he takes over at first base for Santana, who has shifted into the DH role. Gomes is still out with his ice pack, but Ramirez's foot seems to be feeling better as he is taking over for Uribe at 3B. And with that, here's the rest of the starting 9 for your Tribe:
LET'S GO TRIBE!!!
