Let's Talk Tribe Podcast Ep. 34: Cleveland Indians 2016 Draft preview

In this week's episode of Let's Talk Tribe, Jason and I talk drafts, prospects, and the horror of a re-imagined 2011 draft. Jeff Ellis from scout.com joins us to drop some expert knowledge into the discussion, including who he thinks the Indians will take with the 14th overall pick.

The 2016 MLB Draft is finally upon us! For once in the summer, this is not the most exciting thing happening in Cleveland, not even by a longshot. The Cleveland Indians are in first place, the Cavs are in the Finals, and Mike Napoli is having a party every night. Regardless of some other things going on, the draft is still an exciting thing to watch to see what players the Tribe will have in a few years.

In order to find out who the Indians could end up taking with the 14th overall pick, we invited scout.com draft expert Jeff Ellis to join us for today's Draft Day special. He gave us a lot of great info regarding the Indians' thought process during the draft, his thoughts on last year's draft, and even a sneak peak at who he has the Indians taking in his final mock draft coming later today (hint: It's his top overall prospect).

Outside of draft talk, Jason and I also discuss this week's worth of games, including Tyler Naquin emergence, Marlon Byrd's suspension, and how garbage those cream jerseys are*.

*This is a fact. Don't listen to Jason or Craig Calcaterra.

We also take social media questions from who @mwozniak22 who wanted to know if the Chicago White Sox could have Francisco Lindor, and @brainfitts on Twitter who asked simply... "What is a Cody Anderson?"

This week's episode clocks in at 55 minutes. Thanks for listening!

Special thanks

  • Jeff Ellis for joining us.
