When June rolls around, depending on how your team is doing, the MLB First-Year Player Draft can be one of the only times of excitement as the prospect of new...well, prospects, are drafted to your team with lofty major league aspirations. For a lot of players, the trip to the bigs never becomes a reality; for some, they will eventually become major league starters, all-stars, and eventual Hall of Fame members.
For the current season, the Cleveland Indians are playing really well, so most fans will continue to be focused on the current iteration of the major league team as opposed to shifting focus to the players of the next few years. With that being said, if you enjoy scouting players and following the draft, here's how you can do it come Thursday.
Draft Day 1: Rounds 1, Competitive Balance A, 2, and Competitive Balance B (June 9th, 2016)
For the first day, coverage will begin on MLB.com as well as the MLB Network around 6:00 p.m. ET. The drafting will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Indians will have three picks on the day, with picks #14, 55, and 72 overall.
Draft Day 2: Rounds 3-10 (June 10th, 2016)
After the first day, the draft will not be broadcast on television; however, you will still be able to follow along on MLB.com starting at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Tribe starts the day with the #92 pick overall, and then they will have the 16th pick in each subsequent round.
Draft Day 3: Rounds 11-40 (June 11th, 2016)
The remainder of the 2016 First-Year Draft will start at 12:00 p.m. ET on MLB.com. As with day 2, the Indians will have the 16th pick in each round.
In addition to following the draft online, we will have live threads going here at Let's Go Tribe on each of the three draft days for fans to come in and discuss the various picks. Be sure to stop by and discuss each day!
