I'd like to see Carlos Carrasco throw a perfect game on Father's Day. Might as well get that out of the way, right?
Realistically, I'm hoping Carrasco comes out and gives the Indians seven innings of solid baseball. Since returning from the disabled list hitters have slashed .333/.368/.528. Before the injury? .200/.247/.388. A perfect game would do quite a lot to help those numbers, right?
The White Sox toss Carlos Rodon onto the bump, fingers crossed that he can help right he tailspin they're in. They might have a hot stretch in July. They may sneak their way into a second wild card spot. But no, I don't think that's happening. I think the way the Sox have played — they haven't won a series since the first weekend of May against the Twins — properly reflects the talent level of the team. Regression is a bitch, no?
Something to keep an eye on at the dish: Tyler Naquin. Last night he threatened to hit for the cycle, needing a double in the eighth inning. He walked. So far Naquin's BABIP is .452. This is the second highest total in the league for a hitter with at least 100 plate appearances. Paulo Orlando of the Royals is first with .459. Obviously Naquin is impervious to regression, and will continue to hit like Mike Trout Lite forever.
That is all for now, except one more reminder that Carlos Carrasco is going to throw a perfect game today.
